A word counter should do one thing and do it well: count your text accurately, display the results clearly, and get out of your way. It shouldn't require an account, shouldn't show you pop-ups, and shouldn't upload your writing to a server. Every calculation on Accurate Word Counter happens directly in your browser, and your text never leaves your device.
How It Works
The tool uses standard JavaScript string operations to count words (by splitting on whitespace), characters (with and without spaces), sentences (by detecting sentence-ending punctuation), and paragraphs (by detecting blank-line separators). Reading time is estimated using the widely cited average of 238 words per minute for English-language non-fiction reading. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, a comfortable pace for presentations and public speaking. All estimates are clearly labeled as estimates.

Technology
This website is built with AstroJS, styled with Tailwind CSS, and hosted on Cloudflare Pages. The entire site is static HTML with client-side JavaScript for interactivity. No backend server, no database, no user tracking beyond standard analytics.
